The Ramsey County Regional Rail Authority will be at the following community events to answer questions about the projects we are working on for the citizens and businesses of Ramsey County. Drop by our booth and say hello and to find out more about the multi-modal transit network envisioned for the East Metro region.
July 19

Rondo Days Celebration

Toni Carter at Rondo DaysRegional Rail will participate in the 25th annual Rondo Days Festival on Saturday, July 19, at the Martin Luther King Center, 270 N. Kent Street, St. Paul. Highlights include a parade, drill team competition, food, vendor booths and family entertainment. This year’s theme is “Remember Rondo: It’s A Family Reunion!.” For more information about Rondo Days, click here.

Heritage Corridor Planning

Organizers of St. Paul's African American Heritage Corridor met at U-Plan to brainstorm ideas for the corridor, located in the old Rondo neighborhood along Selby Avenue and extending into downtown to the river.

Another light rail tour

The Regional Rail Authority, Metro Council and Aurora St. Anthony Neighborhood Development Corp. sponsored a tour of the Hiawatha Light Rail Transit line for residents of the Central Corridor in St. Paul. Representatives of the partners involved in the project answered questions about the proposed light rail line and transit services in general. The tour was the second of an ongoing series to familiarize residents of the community with light rail and its potential benefits.

National Preservation Conference

Preservation Conference tour pictureThe Ramsey County Regional Rail Authority and Chair Rafael Ortega made presentations to a pair of mobile workshops at the National Trust for Historic Preservation's annual conference in Minnesota's Union Depot. Commissioner Ortega discussed the county's pending purchase of the property and its redevelopment as a multi-modal transit hub serving the east metro region and the entire upper midwest. The tours were facilitated by members of the African American Heritage Corridor committee and the local organizing committee for the national conference.

Hmong Resource Fair

Hmong Fair pictureRegional Rail staff met with members of the Hmong community and other visitors at the 6th Annual Hmong Resource Fair at Aldrich Arena in Maplewood. The fair featured dozens of agencies and vendors and was sponsored by the Hmong Cultural Center in St. Paul.

Minnesota State Fair

Rail Authority at State FairThe Regional Rail Authority, in partnership with its colleagues from the Metropolitan Transitways Development Board, staffed a booth in the State Fair Grandstand for the Great Minnesota Get-Together. Hundreds of Minnesotans dropped by for the latest information on the transit and transportation projects currently being developed in the seven-county metro region.

Business Listening Session

The Regional Rail Authority staff hosted an informal meeting with Snelling Avenue area businesses at Snelling Cafe to share information about the Central Corridor, Union Depot and other transit projects and to hear from business owners and other interested residents. Also attending the session were representatives of the Met Council, City of St. Paul, District Councils Collaborative and the Central Corridor Partnership.

National Night Out

Perfect weather brought out thousands of residents and visitors for the annual Rondo Days festival on the grounds of the Hallie Q. Brown center in St. Paul. The Regional Rail Authority staff answered questions about the Central Corridor light rail project, Minnesota's Union Depot, high-speed rail connections to Chicago and other projects.

The Regional Rail Authority staff participated in a peace pole dedication sponsored by the Aurora St. Anthony district council at the Dunning Recreation Center in St. Paul. The event was one of a series of peace gatherings planned for the summer and fall by the Aurora St. Anthony community.

Rush Line Open House at Capitol

Rush Line Open House photoThe Regional Rail Authority and the Rush Line Corridor Task Force, led by its chair, Commissioner Victoria Reinhardt, held an open house at the state Capitol in conjuction with a speech by Congressman Jim Oberstar to legislators. The open house featured information about the corridor between Union Depot and Hinckley and two transit improvement studies currently under way.
